Alexander Westerfield is a graduate of Stanford Law School. He rejoined Phillips & Cohen after a clerkship with US District Court Judge Rya Zobel in Boston, Massachusetts.

At Phillips & Cohen, Mr. Westerfield has worked on a variety of financial fraud cases concerning price, rate and index manipulation; insider trading; front-running; and other predatory trading practices. He also has worked on cases involving money laundering and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as well as “qui tam” (False Claims Act) cases in the education and health industries.

He graduated from Stanford Law School with Pro Bono Distinction for his work helping low-income tenants in housing disputes and on projects concerning treaty rights in South Sudan and the protection of voting rights. He was president of Stanford Law School’s Class of 2013.

While in law school, Mr. Westerfield interned with the Office of the San Francisco City Attorney and the California Department of Justice. He also worked for the International Law & Policy Institute in Oslo, Norway, focusing on tax haven abuse.

Mr. Westerfield is admitted to the bar in California.
