Phillips & Cohen lawyers named to "500 Leading Lawyers" list

July 27, 2009, WASHINGTON, DC -- Whistleblower attorneys John R. Phillips and Mary Louise Cohen, founding partners of Phillips & Cohen LLP, have been recognized as being among the "500 Leading Lawyers in America" in 2008 by Lawdragon, a national magazine, for their success representing whistleblowers in cases involving fraud against the government.

"Influential is the word for Phillips, who in guiding the top qui tam [whistleblower] practice in the nation has recovered billions under the False Claims Act," Lawdragon says.

Lawdragon calls Ms. Cohen "the queen of qui tam" and notes that she "got Medtronic spine to pony up $75 million for defrauding Medicare in connection with spinal procedures" in 2008. Ms. Cohen also was the lead attorney in a whistleblower case against Quest Diagnostics that settled for $302 million in 2009.
