Phillips & Cohen Partner Erika Kelton named a legal “legend” by Lawdragon magazine

WASHINGTON, DC, February 13, 2023 – Lawdragon magazine has honored Phillips & Cohen partner Erika Kelton as a “legend” in its 2023 “Legends list,” recognizing her achievements as a top-tier whistleblower attorney.

The “Legends” list spotlights the biggest legal stars throughout America today. According to Lawdragon, this year’s top-tier 23 attorneys have been recognized repeatedly annually with the magazine’s elite Lawdragon 500 distinction, typically 10 times or more. It is an illustrious group, which Lawdragon began recognizing in 2015.

Kelton is an internationally recognized whistleblower lawyer with more than three decades of experience representing whistleblowers.  She won 15 Dodd-Frank awards for her clients through the SEC and CFTC whistleblower programs–more than any other lawyer. In 2022, Kelton won a whistleblower award for a combined $40 million from the SEC for international clients, likely the largest SEC award made ever to international whistleblowers. She won another SEC award of more than $32 million, the largest SEC whistleblower reward at the time of the settlement.

Kelton also has set records in her work on “qui tam” (False Claims Act) whistleblower cases.  She represented whistleblowers in the two biggest healthcare fraud settlements ever. She won a record-setting settlement from GlaxoSmithKline for $3 billion, which was featured on the BBC’s show Portfolio. Kelton also won a case against Pfizer for illegally marketing the painkiller, Bextra, which Pfizer paid $1.8.billion to settle and was the subject of an episode of CNBC’s show American Greed.

Lawdragon recently honored five Phillips & Cohen partners in the 2023 edition of its “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list – the 15th year in a row that Lawdragon has recognized Phillips & Cohen partners in its annual list of the “500 Leading Lawyers in America” for their work representing whistleblowers.

To select attorneys for its rankings, Lawdragon typically utilizes a combination of editorial research, law firm submissions and online nominations.
